Get involved! CalABA is always looking for engaged and eager behavior analysts to help us meet our collective goals. CalABA members may get involved in a variety of ways, from simply commenting and sharing thoughts on social media, to being active at our Open Board Meetings. Members looking to get more involved may participate or volunteer their time in a number of other ways, including: • Project-based work for Committee Chairs or Board members • Ad Hoc Committees for tackling specific, short-term issues • Serving as Student Volunteers at our annual Conference • Joining a Committee (see below).

CalABA Committees
Our committees are comprised of members of our Board of Directors, as well as volunteers from CalABA’s general membership. Each committee has different levels of involvement, including regular committee meetings and/or shorter term projects. We encourage members to reach out to committees in their particular areas of interest and expertise for information on how to get involved. Conference Committee
Led by the Conference Chair, members of the Conference Committee are on the front-lines of planning and managing our biggest annual event. Conference Committee members may be involved in anything from developing the slate of speakers, designing the program, to serving as the Student Volunteer Coordinator. DEI Committee
The CalABA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee supports increasing representation,
inclusion and access of traditionally marginalized groups in Behavior Analysis in practice,
research and leadership. The committee is dedicated to creating a safe and equitable space
for colleagues of all backgrounds to collaborate and foster a culture of inclusion.
Our mission for the CalABA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is to:
- Build and leverage a community of diverse leaders in Behavior Analysis.
- Expand knowledge on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion competencies, ensuring equal opportunities and respect for all.
- Increase representation, access and opportunity for traditionally marginalized groups.
- Develop, initiate and evaluate equity initiatives within CalABA and Behavior Analysis as a whole.
- Provide recommendations on policy and procedure to the CalABA Board of Directors.
- Collaborate with other groups, state boards and organizations to have a greater impact on the field of Behavior Analysis.

Professional Standards Committee
Led by the Professional Standards Chair, members of the Professional Standards Committee coordinate the implementation of professional practice and professional development activities, such as continuing education and other trainings. Members of this committee are active in reviewing papers, workshops, and tutorials submitted for our annual Conference to determine eligibility for continuing education credits, as well as for other CEU events held throughout the year. Public Policy | Legislative Committee
Led by the Public Policy Chair, members of the Public Policy | Legislative Committee play a vital role in supporting CalABA’s participation in the development of policies and legislation that may affect the science and practice of behavior analysis in California. A very engaged committee, Public Policy | Legislative Committee members may help monitor, track, and research legislative activities, meet with policy makers, or share legislative information with the general CalABA membership. Public Relations | Marketing Committee
Led by the PR | Marketing Chair, members of the PR | Marketing Committee seek to increase CalABA’s visibility in our community, be it through actively engaging our own membership, or collaborating with other committees to promote CalABA and behavior analysis with the general public. PR | Marketing Committee members may participate in the development and design of marketing materials, help manage media relations, review potential sponsorship partners for the Conference or Career Center, or dialogue with our membership via social media. Stakeholders Advisory Committee
Led by the Professional Association Liaison, members of the Stakeholders Advisory Committee work to increase communication and collaboration between CalABA and various stakeholder groups throughout California. Members of this committee identify challenges/barriers to the access and understanding of ABA across various stakeholder groups, provide suggestions on how to mitigate these challenges/barriers, and develop a better understanding of the needs/issues of behavior analytic services through the perspective of a multi-disciplinary team/committee. Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are created and maintained by CalABA members with a common interest or specialty in a specific area of behavior analysis or related policy. The purpose of each SIG is to network and exchange information through meetings, publications, or other organized activities. Learn more about CalABA's SIGs below.

Adult Service Providers (ASPSIG)
The Adult Service Providers SIG will (ASPSIG) provide a professional platform for Behavior Analysts working with adults, or have an interest in adult services, to share resources, cultivate continued professional development, and create an expansive support network. Further, the ASPSIG will contribute to the field of Behavior Analysis by developing, enhancing, and supporting access to resources for Behavior Analysts in a position to make socially significant improvements in environments where adult services are provided. Focus audience: Behavior Analysts providing, or are interested in providing, behavior analytic support to adult consumers/clients across all environments. Includes, but not limited to, the various stakeholders supporting the application of behavior analysis in service adult consumers/clients.

Bay Area Behavior Analysis Collective (BABAC)
BABAC is an inclusive collective of Applied Behavior Analysis professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. BABAC empowers our community through education and grassroots connection with an emphasis on ethics, compassion, and equity. Our focus includes mentorship of ABA professionals, dissemination of information, providing a network and infrastructure to connect members, and community building for the Bay Area and its surrounding areas.

Business in Behavior Analysis (BIBA)
The Business in Behavior Analysis (BIBA) Special Interest Group is focused on promoting the highest standards of professional and business practice within ABA business organizations, working collaboratively to achieve professional goals that are unattainable individually. The focus includes public policy and legislation surrounding behavioral health treatment; collaboration with California funding sources, legal and ethical employment practices, organizational behavior change, and other topics related to operating an ethical and high-quality ABA business. BIBA provides opportunities to meet and network with professionals within our science, creating connections and collaboration. Networking amongst ABA organizations allows our members to become resources for one another and build out professional communities. To create, nurture, and maintain an inclusive and diverse culture, where differences drive innovative solutions to meet the needs of our membership. BIBA is committed to intentionally create diverse environments where all members feel supported and valued.

Behavior Analysts in Education SIG (BAE)
Mission Statement/General Interest: The Behavior Analysts in Education SIG will provide a professional platform for Behavior Analysts working in the educational setting to share resources, cultivate continued professional development, and create an expansive support network. Further, the Behavior Analysts in Education SIG will contribute to the field of Behavior Analysis by developing, enhancing, and supporting access to resources for Behavior Analysts in a position to make socially significant improvements in educational environments.
Focus audience: Behavior Analysts providing behavior analytic support within school districts, county educational programs, and the public sector. Includes but is not limited to the various stakeholders supporting the application of behavior analysis in a school environment.
So you’re interested in joining the Behavior Analysts in Education (BAE) Special Interest Group of CalABA? Here’s how to join! First and foremost, you must be a current member of CalABA. Application. Incomplete applications will be returned for completion.
